Croatia digs deep to finance River Sava bridge into Bosnia

Croatia is to pay €70 million as its share for a bridge across the River Sava near Gradiska, in Republika Srpska, part of Bosnia-Herzegovina. A year ago, the European Commission set aside a €6.8 million grant for construction of the bridge.

  • Bosnia agrees funding for highway construction plans

    Bosnia’s highway company Autoceste Federacije BiH will invest €500 million in the construction of the Corridor Vc road. The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide a loan of €166 million to part finance the project. The plans call for the construction of the 56km highway as well as an additional 10km of the Sarajevo ringroad. The cost of the project is three times higher than any other that the country has so far planned. Autoceste Federacije BiH has said that it will finance land expropriation.

    A consortium led by Porr Technobau und Umwelt of Austria has launched the construction phase of the E88 million bridge over the Sava river in Belgrade. The six-lane bridge will be 929m long, and also have two light railway lines. Slovenian company SCT and DSD Bruckenbau of Germany make up the rest of the consortium. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is to provide E70 million of financing for the project.
