Contractor STRABAG is building Poland’s S8 route

Austrian contractor STRABAG is now working on designing and building the new S8 route in Poland. This €57 million project will provide a new 10km route connecting Radziejowice and Przeszkoda. The road is being built from concrete and is due for completion within 31 months. The project was awarded to STRABAG by Poland’s General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA). Austrian contractor 945 STRABAG is now working on designing and building the new S8 route in Poland. This €57 million project will provide a new 10km route connecting Radziejowice and Przeszkoda. The road is being built from concrete and is due for completion within 31 months. The project was awarded to STRABAG by Poland’s General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (1361 GDDKiA). In addition to building the dual carriageway, the work also involves constructing the Żabia Wola junction as well as several structures, including a bridge over Pisia Tuczna, as well as pedestrian overpasses and three rest areas. Noise barriers and wildlife crossings will also be built along the section.

    Construction will commence in April 2017 on a new road tunnel link in Karlsruhe. Austrian contractor STRABAG has an 84% stake in the consortium, which also includes Schleith, building the link. Civil design is being handled by Ed Züblin meanwhile. The new Kriegsstraße vehicle tunnel in Karlsruhe will carry two lanes of road traffic underground, while providing a surface connection for trams, pedestrians and cyclists.     Concrete producer CEMEX is playing a key role in the construction of one of Poland’s main highway projects. The new S7 highway link will connect the Baltic coast to cities such as Warsaw, Kraków, and the Slovakian border region. In all over 400,000m3 of concrete is being supplied by CEMEX for the highway, with the material being used to build civil structures such as flyovers and bridges as well as drainage.
