Contacts awarded for new UAE road links

Contracts for two major road projects in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) worth a combined US$2.01 billion (AED 7.40 billion) have been awarded. Contracts for two major road projects in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) worth a combined US$2.01 billion (AED 7.40 billion) have been awarded. The contracts have been granted to 1302 Al Jaber Transport and General Contracting, 2379 Ghantoot Transport and General Contracting, Al Geemi & Partners Contracting Company, Bin Hafeez General Contracting Establishment, Delma Engineering, Larsen and Toubro, Abu Dhabi Salini Construction and Tristar for Engineering.

One of the road projects will connect Dubai with Abu Dhabi, linking Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) and Khalifa Port area with main roads to Musaffah's Industrial Area besides serving new residential areas.

Stretching over 327km, the other road will connect the UAE's Mafraq with Saudi Arabia's Ghweifat. Under the project, 15 new upper interchanges will be built. It also includes the construction of four new lanes to Baraka from Mafraq in each direction. The project is set to be completed before 2017.
