Construction commencing on Algerian highway

A consortium comprising four contractors is carrying out construction of Algeria’s new Tizi-Hacine road link. The 18km road project in Mascara Province is costing US$205.34 million to build. A consortium comprising four contractors is carrying out construction of Algeria’s new Tizi-Hacine road link. The 18km road project in Mascara Province is costing US$205.34 million to build. The project is for the second part of the highway linking Mascara to the East-West motorway. The consortium comprises four Spanish-Algerian companies including Sarl Benzamia, Irrigout, CHM and LIC. Meanwhile work on the 25km stretch of road linking Hacine to the East-West highway is also commencing. This work is to be carried out by a consortium made up of four Chinese-Algerian companies, including Shan Dong Luqioad, Seror, Sntpo and SNC-Mezoughi et fils. Overall, the Mascara highway project is due to be completed in 24 months.

    A major new expressway will link Tizi-Ouzou in Algeria to the country’s East-West highway. The local authorities have been given a budget of US$623 million for the project. The expressway will connect to the East-West highway at Bouira. The project forms part of the 2010-14 five year plan and is required as the existing route linking Tizi-Ouzou to the East-West highway, the TN 12, is now carrying more vehicles than it was designed for.
