Consortium carrying out Colombian highway project

In Colombia a consortium will carry out the Perimetral Oriental road contract. The US$463.4 million contract is for a 153km section of road connecting Cundinamarca and Meta, which when complete will cut journey times by two hours compared with the current route. In Colombia a consortium will carry out the Perimetral Oriental road contract. The US$463.4 million contract is for a 153km section of road connecting Cundinamarca and Meta, which when complete will cut journey times by two hours compared with the current route. The consortium comprises Israeli company Shikun & Binui and local firm Grodco and Colombiana Inversiones en Infraestructura, which is owned by Spanish company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC). The work will take four years to carry out and this is the sixth project to be awarded by Colombia’s National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) during 2014. Three more major highway projects will be put to tender in Colombia during September; Magdalena 2, Conexion Norte and Mulalo-Loboguerrero.

    Colombia's national infrastructure agency ANI will auction 13 road projects with a combined value of more than US$7.87 billion (COP 15 trillion) in H1 2014, out of 40 planned. Nine of the scheduled auction projects have gone through the pre-qualification stage and will be definitely awarded in the first quarter of next year. In total, all 40 projects will involve investments of COP 47tn. The plan is to improve 8,000kms of roads in the country.
