Columbian company carrying out Costa Rican contract with local firm

Colombian contractor Mario Huertas Cotes and Costa Rican company MECO will carry out construction work on Costa Rica’s Cartagena to Barranquilla highway. The highway stretch measures some 146.7km long and the contract is worth US428.9 million. The two construction companies have come together to carry out the contract jointly and won the deal with a low priced bid.

    The first section of a key road project in Costa Rica will be completed in late 2019. The work is for the 2.25km-long flyover on the Northern Ring Road (Circunvalacion Norte).     In Romania the road authorities have signed a deal for the construction of a 22km stretch of highway in a contract worth €91 million. The Portuguese contractor Monte Adriano will construct the section linking Nadlac with Pecica. Romania has pledged to improve and expand its highway network with the construction of new links, and much of the funding for its highway plans has been provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
