Plans are being drawn up in Colombia for a number of new tertiary roads in Valle del Cauca Department. A new highway will be built in Valle del Cauca department, while a new road will improve connections between Mulalo and Loboguerrero.
A new transport plan for Colombia’s capital, Bogota, is intended to cut congestion. The plans are being drawn up by Bogota council's Urban Development Institute (IDU). In all 75 separate works are included in the plan, ranging from building or upgrading 155km of roads to constructing 183km of cycle lanes. Of the 75 works outlined in the plans, the aim is for 20 to be complete by the end of 2019.

In Colombia the Government intends to invest US$170 million into the road networks of 23 departments. Repairs will be carried out to tackle damage caused by harsh winter weather. The authorities in Colombia’s Santander region also plan to improve road infrastructure. International interest is strong in tenders opening in Colombia for the construction and management of 1,146km worth of highways. These form part of a package for 10 projects known as Autopistas para la Prosperidad, worth some US$4.75 billion in all. OHL has expressed an interest in the Autopista al Mar 2 and Autopista al Rio Magdalena 1 highway projects, which have been valued at around $1.9 billion.
A series of major road transport projects are moving ahead in Colombia, with the country’s national infrastructure agency (ANI), handling most of the deals. In the country’s capital, Bogota, design work is now complete on the Calle 13 and Accesos Norte II road projects. The Calle 13 project will see an 11.5km section of route widened so that it features three lanes in either direction. The work will also include building new facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
