Plans are being drawn up in Colombia for a number of new tertiary roads in Valle del Cauca Department. A new highway will be built in Valle del Cauca department, while a new road will improve connections between Mulalo and Loboguerrero.
Spanish construction firm Sacyr is set to invest around US$1.5 billion in Colombian road concession projects. The country is regarded as an ideal recipient for foreign investment. Current Sacyr projects in Colombia include a bridge costing $40.11 million (COP 80 billion), as well as the $116.79 million (COP 233 billion) road scheme between Buenaventura-Loboguerrero. The country has embarked on a major road development programme, via serious and transparent processes, according to Sacyr.
In Russia’s capital Moscow the finishing touches are being put to a plan to construct the city’s first tolled link. The northern relief road for Kutuzovsky prospect is expected to cost US$1.91 billion to build and will stretch a distance of 10.3km. The tender process for the concession package is being prepared at present and is expected to open for bids shortly. The Venezuela Government has plans in hand for 52 road projects that will commence during 2015. Close to US$42 billion will be invested in infrastructure projects. The Land Transport Ministry will invest $315 million and USD 911mn will be spent on road repairs and upgrades alone. An important new road link is being built in Algeria that will connect the port of Oran with the country’s East-West motorway. The new road link is expected to open to traffic in 2017. The work is being carried out by an Algerian-Turkish partnership, Engoa-Makyol. Costing US$483 million, the work will take some 30 months to complete. The new road is expected to improve traffic flow to and from the port and reduce congestion in and around Oran as heavy trucks will no longer have to use existing urban routes.
