Plans are being drawn up in Colombia for a number of new tertiary roads in Valle del Cauca Department. A new highway will be built in Valle del Cauca department, while a new road will improve connections between Mulalo and Loboguerrero.
Colombia’s Santander Department is to see major investment in repairing and improving its road network. The Colombian Transport Ministry intends to spend US$2.4 billion on a series of road repairs and upgrades. Major highways being improved under the plans include the Curos-Malaga road and the Bucaramanga-Cuestaboba link. The Curos-Malaga road upgrade is expected to cost around $77 million while the Bucaramanga-Cuestaboba improvement project is likely to cost some $43.5 million.
Construction work is continuing on Colombia’s Toyo Tunnel project. This is in spite of the controversy regarding one of the firms involved, which has been drawn into the corruption scandal surrounding the Brazilian contractor Odebrecht. The tunnel project is being carried out by a consortium, Consorcio Antioqua al Mar. The tender process for Colombia’s Buga-Buenaventura fourth generation (4G) toll road project is being planned. The tender for the 114.1km dual carriageway is being handled in two separate stretches however. One of the road stretches will be for a 55.4km section from Buga to Loboguerrero, which is expected to cost US$359.45 million. The 58.7km stretch from Loboguerrero to Buenaventura meanwhile is expected to cost $362.75 million. The Loboguerrero to Buenaventura section of the route includes building a 19km
