A new tunnel is forming an important link for a major Colombian highway - Mauro Nogarin reports
Work on a major highway project is underway in Colombia, forming part of the Bogota-Buenaventura Corridor. The highway has a length of 503km and is located in central Colombia, connecting the departments of Tolima and Quindio, across the central Andes, with a total cost of around US$330 million.

Construction work is commencing on an important new bridge link in Colombia. The Puente de la Reconciliacion Bridge will connect the municipality of Mompox with the rest of the Bolivar department of Colombia. The project is being carried out by the consortium Consorcio Nacional Yati. The project will improve connections with Mompox, which is difficult to reach by road at present due to the lack of a direct route. The 2.3km long bridge will also provide a connection between the Troncal de Occidente and Ruta
Progress is now being seen in Colombia with regard to key tunnel and road projects. A consortium comprising Conconcreto and CSS Constructores is to complete the 12% of work still needed to finish the La Linea Tunnel project.
