Colombia’s La Linea Tunnel link is opening to traffic.

In Colombia the long awaited La Linea tunnel link is opening to traffic. The tunnel project has been subject to a string of delays since excavation work commenced. Geological problems and insufficient funding have held back the opening of the tunnel.

With the tunnel open, it will for part of the Cruce de la Cordillera Central route. In all, four tunnels, five bridges and two interchanges are opening to drivers The total length of road opening measures 13.4km in dual carriageway format.

The new connection will improve journey times for drivers along the route, as well making a considerable boost to safety.
