A key bridge replacement project in Colombia is now complete. The Charte Bridge takes the place of an earlier link, which failed in 2016. The new 162m bridge cost US13.2 million to build. Although small, the bridge is an important link in the road connecting Villavicencio and Yopal.

The road improvement project between Villavicencio and Yopal forms part of Colombia’s 4G transport programme. In all, the project is for an improved route measuring 195km, with the work due to be complete by 2023. Some 48km of the route will be entirely new, while 142km of the existing route will benefit from upgrades and improvements. The work is being carried out by a consortium, Concesionaria Vial del Oriente (Covioriente).
