Chinese funding for Indonesian toll road

The Indonesian Public Works Ministry is funding the first phase of work on a new toll road using a Chinese loan. The US$106.4 million loan will fund work for the first section of the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) section II toll road. The Indonesian Public Works Ministry is keen to use its own financing for much of the project, which includes a further five stages.

    Work is said to be progressing on track in Indonesia with the Trans-Sumatra tolled highway. Construction of the section linking Aceh and Lampung Provinces looks set to be completed by the end of 2014 and is expected to open for traffic in early 2015.     A financing deal has been signed for a portion of a major highway project in Indonesia. The US$91 million loan package has been signed between Indonesian infrastructure financing company, Sarana Multi Infrastrucktur (SMI), and contractor, Hutama Karya. This will help pay for work on the 22km Palembang-Indrayala stretch of the 2,700km Trans Sumatra 2,700km highway project. The funds will be made available in three tranches.     Financing has been found to fund construction work on the North Tarrant Express (NTE) in Texas. The public-private partnership project for Segment 3A of the route will be carried out by NTE Mobility Partners Segments 3 LLC (NTEMP3). The rebuilding of the I-35W road close to Fort Worth will help reduce traffic congestion on the route at peak periods.
