Chinese expressway to commence construction

A new expressway project is due to commence in China in early 2019. The work is expected to cost US$1.37 billion and involves upgrading the Meiguan Expressway. The work will be carried out over an 8km stretch between the Qinghu Flyover and Meilin Tollgate. The work involves work to 25 tunnels and eight interchange flyovers, as well as a number of pedestrian underpasses and footbridges. The project is planned to utilise the latest 3D and BIM software technology.

    Plans are in hand in China for construction of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor road project. This massive project is expected to cost in the region of US$4.8 billion to construct. The environmental impact report and design proposal for the project has been released by the Guangdong Provincial Transport Department. The feasibility report should be complete by March 2013 and this is expected to receive its approval by June 2014.

    Construction of a new 10 lane highway is due to start shortly in Qatar and the project is expected to cost in the region of US$2.1 billion to complete. The new Al Khor Expressway project looks set to be built by a Turkish contractor Tefken Holding, following the completion of the tender process. The 34km highway will feature eight intersections, as well as a number of viaducts, overpasses and underpasses. The project also includes the construction of separated facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. The hi
