China's Anhui Province is planning key transport projects for 2012.

China's Anhui Province is planning key transport projects for 2012.

These include preliminary work for the Chizhou Yangtze River highway bridge, Yuexi-Wuhan and Ma'anshan-Chaohu highways. The authorities in Anhui Province are also planning to commence work on the Ningguo-Jixi, Xuancheng-Ningguo, Xuzhou-Guangming and Fuyang-Xincai highways during this year. Anhui Province intends to speed up work on the Ma'anshan Yangtze River highway bridge construction as well as the constructions of Zhenglou-Guolou, Huangshan-Qimen, Wuhu-Yanchi, Jixi-Huangshan and Suzhou-Sixian highways. In addition, the Liu'an-Yuexi-Qianshan and Liu'an-Wuhan highways will be completed in 2012.

    Mozambique’s Maputo-Catembe Bridge is due to open shortly and will become Africa’s longest suspension bridge. The 3km bridge will form part of the road connection between Maputo, Mozambique’s capital, and Catembe. The bridge is costing over US$700 million, with much of the necessary funding being provided by the Export Import Bank of China. The new bridge will improve transport and reduce journey times for drivers, who currently have to rely on ferries travelling between Maputo and Catembe.
