Five expressways will be built in Yunnan Province. Work will start on the 49km expressway between Huize and Qiaojia in 2021 at a cost of US$1.2 billion. A new expressway will run 142km between Huize and Xuanwei and will be built at a cost of $3.5 billion, with the work due start on the link in 2025. In addition, work will commence on a 55km expressway between Huize and Weining also in 2025 and costing $1.37 billion. A 59 km expressway will link Guangnan with Xichou and will cost $1.61 to construct. Measuring 64km, the new expressway between Qiubei and Yanshan will have a pricetag of $1.54 billion.

In Hunan Province meanwhile, tendering is being planned for three new national highways as well as a provincial expressway. The highways are being planned as PPP projects by the Hunan Province Government.

An 83km highway will connect Zhangjiajie with Guanzhuang and its construction is expected cost $2.36 billion. The 191km highway between Xinhua County and Xinning County will cost $4.15 billion. Building a new highway for the 94km between Yiyang and Changde will cost $2.8 billion.

The build-operate transfer model will be used for the $1.38 billion project to construct the 52km provincial expressway between Rulin and Wutuan. This route will also connect with the planned highway between Chengbu and Longsheng.
