China plans highway mega projects for Zhejiang, Hunan and Hubei provinces

Zhejiang, Hunan and Hubei provinces in China are all planning huge highway development programmes. In all the work will cost over US$ billion. One of the key projects is for a stretch of the Tianjin-Shijiazhuang Expressway, which is due for completion at the end of 2019.

Zhejiang, Hunan and Hubei provinces in China are all planning huge highway development programmes. In all the work will cost over US$ billion. One of the key projects is for a stretch of the Tianjin-Shijiazhuang Expressway, which is due for completion at the end of 2019. This new route will run from the Ziya River that borders Hebei and Tianjin provinces and will link with Dingzhou city. Another major project is the upgrade to the 43km Yuyao-Wenling road. The other major projects include the 133km Longyouheng-Kaihua expressway, the Chenglingji-Yueyang expressway and a highway from Changde city to Zhangjiajie.

The high expense of the project for its length is due to the undulating terrain, with the need for four tunnel stretches as well as 25 bridges.
