906 Chile's Ministry of Public Works has revealed that work on the Vespucio Oriente highway will now cost US$2 billion. The complexity of the project is the cause for the cost increase. The tender process for the project should commence by mid-2012. The project will be for a 13km length and much of it will run underground, with the route crossing seven districts. Work is expected to begin in 2014.
So far 18 companies have been registered as eligible for tenders in the Agua Negra Tunnel project, which will link Argentina with Chile. The tender process is commencing for the project in the second half of 2014. The new tunnel will provide a better alternative to existing routes connecting the two countries through the Andes Mountain range at present. A new highway link is planned to be built in China’s Ma'anshan city. The 19km link will improve traffic flow between the centre of the city and the Bowang District. Costing US$147 million, the new link will feature dual lanes for traffic in either direction. Construction will be carried out in three separate phases, with work on the first phase expected to commence at the end of 2018 and with tendering due for the second and third phase in due course.
