906 Chile's Ministry of Public Works has revealed that work on the Vespucio Oriente highway will now cost US$2 billion. The complexity of the project is the cause for the cost increase. The tender process for the project should commence by mid-2012. The project will be for a 13km length and much of it will run underground, with the route crossing seven districts. Work is expected to begin in 2014.
The cost of building the Padma Bridge in Bangladesh will be nearly three times the US$2.61 billion estimated in 2011.
Also on the rise is the cost of flood prevention work in the form of levee construction – called river training in Bangladesh. The addition of 1.3km of work at the Mawa end of the bridge means the total cost is now $1.2 billion, up from $1.1 billion.

Strabag’s output volume remained stable in 2013 reaching €13.573 billion - down just 3% compared to the €14.042 billion recorded in 2012.
The construction firm’s first full year figures for 2013 also reveal an order backlog up by only 2% to €13.469 billion from €13.202 billion the previous year.
Strabag says it expects output volume to remain stable in 2014 at €13.6 billion, with EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) of at least €260 million – similar to the level forecast for 2013.
