Canada-US bridge

Up to US$536 million has been offered by the Canadian Government towards the $974 million construction of the Detroit River International Crossing Bridge. This will link Windsor, Ontario and the US city of Detroit. The construction of the bridge is due for completion by 2016.

    In Ohio the authorities have set a budget worth US$120 million to improve bridges. The funding is being made available to local governments. The state’s Local Bridge Partnership Program is adding 10 additional bridges to a program that is already improving or replacing 220 bridges in local communities across the state.     Work is underway in Kazakhstan for a new bridge that will span the Irtysuh River. The new bridge will improve the road connections between Pavlodar and Aksu. The bridge is due for completion by December 2016. The cost of the project is some US$146.74 million. The 12.5km long bridge will be the largest in Central Asia when complete.

    Work on a key bridge link in Vietnam is behind schedule and the construction team will have to speed up work. Delays have hit the project to build the Vam Cong Bridge, which will span the Hau River. The firms building the bridge, South Korean contractor, GS E&C and Hanshin E&C has been told by Vietnam's Transportation Ministry to accelerate construction efforts. The bridge is due for completion by September 2017. GS E&C and Hanshin E&C secured the bridge project in June 2013 and the work is worth some US$23
