Cambodia’s new highway project being planned

Cambodia is hoping to start work on a new expressway running from capital Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville in late 2017. The 190km expressway is expected to cost in excess of US$1.5 billion and the project has been planned by Cambodia’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport. Once the new expressway is complete, it will improve transport and reduce journey times along the route between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, while also improving safety for road users.

Cambodia is hoping to start work on a new expressway running from capital Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville in late 2017. The 190km expressway is expected to cost in excess of US$1.5 billion and the project has been planned by Cambodia’s 2536 Ministry of Public Works and Transport. Once the new expressway is complete, it will improve transport and reduce journey times along the route between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, while also improving safety for road users. The expressway will be built with four lanes and is likely to be tolled, although motorcycles will not be permitted to use the route.

The expressway will stretch some 190km when complete and the project is expected to cost US$2 billion.
