Bulgarian road deals being planned

A series of road rebuilding and improvement works is being planned in Bulgaria. A consortium will handle the €152.4 million contract to reconfigure a 30km stretch of road connecting Vidin with Botevgrad. The consortium is made up of the Bulgarian firms PST Sofia, PST Group, Nivel Stroy, PST Vidin, and Patengineering-M. A series of road rebuilding and improvement works is being planned in Bulgaria. A consortium will handle the €152.4 million contract to reconfigure a 30km stretch of road connecting Vidin with Botevgrad. The consortium is made up of the Bulgarian firms PST Sofia, PST Group, Nivel Stroy, PST Vidin, and Patengineering-M. Meanwhile the tendering process is open for the Barovo Bypass project, which is expected to be worth €136.6 million. This project is complex and includes building a 7.6km stretch of road, improving a 2.9km road section and also building five tunnels, with a combined length of 4km.

    Russia’s Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor) set out an ambitious plan of road development projects for 2018 and is achieving its target. Compared with 2017, Rosavtodor increased its programme of road development for 2018 by 19.5%. Meanwhile Rosavtodor has planned to repair 8,400km of roads, with 97 of the planned works being completed ahead of schedule.     The contract for the second drive for the Karavanke tunnel connecting Slovenia with Austria is now once more being tendered. The project was awarded earlier this year to the Turkish contractor, Cengiz Insaat Sanayi Ve Ticaret. However this deal was then annulled and the firm prevented from reapplying. The Turkish company had submitted a bid of €89.3 million for the work. However this had to be rejected as the actual estimate to build the link sets a pricetag of some €121.5 million.
