Bridge and overpass building in Indonesia

Indonesia will benefit from new bridges, underpasses and flyovers being built during 2018. The country’s Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing has plans to build 174 bridges as well as 18 underpasses and flyovers. The various projects have an average price of nearly US$12 million. Indonesia will benefit from new bridges, underpasses and flyovers being built during 2018. The country’s Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing has plans to build 174 bridges as well as 18 underpasses and flyovers. The various projects have an average price of nearly US$12 million. Some of the more important bridge projects include the Holtekamp Bridge in Papua, Riau’s Siak 2 Bridge and Maluku’s Wear Arafura Bridge. Meanwhile in Bali, the new Ngurah Rai Underpass will be built while in Aceh, a 900m flyover is planned and for Palembang, there are plans for two flyovers, with one measuring 650m and the other 450m.

    In Nepal a 159m long suspension bridge spanning the Trishuli River has collapsed, killing two and injuring 17 while five people are posted as missing. Meanwhile in neighbouring India, an old wooden bridge spanning the Rangit River has collapsed killing 32, injuring 70 and leaving 35 missing.     The Holtekamp bridge; the Medan-Kualanamu Flyover; the Raja Ampat Ring Road; and the Oksibil-Waropko Road are among 19 proposed new infrastructure projects submitted to the Indonesian Ministry of Finance.
