Brazil transportation programme

Plans are being formulated in Brazil for second phase of the country’s logistics investment programme, PIL. This looks set to include 15 road sections, 11 of which are still in the project development phase. Other sections are in the public consultation phase, or waiting to be analysed by the Brazilian authorities. Plans are being formulated in Brazil for second phase of the country’s logistics investment programme, PIL. This looks set to include 15 road sections, 11 of which are still in the project development phase. Other sections are in the public consultation phase, or waiting to be analysed by the Brazilian authorities. The projects for the BR 476-153-282-480 sections in Parana and Santa Catarina states are ready to be put to tender. Meanwhile the BR 364-365 sections in Goias and Minas Gerais states, are currently being analysed by the Brazilian authorities. These two sections are expected to be offered in tenders in the first half of 2016. Meanwhile the remaining 13 sections are set to be offered in tenders in the second half of 2016. Road sections in the programme total some 7,000km and include investments of around US$17.56 billion in all. The second phase of the PIL programme also includes concessions for five railway sections and four airports in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Ceara and Bahia.

    In Brazil the firm EcoRodovias has won the tender process for the Rio-Niteroi bridge contract. The Brazilian road management firm was awarded the tender for the Rio-Niteroi contract, with its proposed low charge for each user of the bridge. The company will take over management of the route from May 2015, for a period of 30 years.   • Brazil roads tenders attracting interest

    Strong interest is being reported in two road project tenders in Brazil. The tenders are being handled by Artesp, the transport agency for Sao Paulo State. So far as many as 140 interested parties have registered for the tenders of two roadway stretches. The first of these tenders will be auctioned on the 22nd February 2017 while the second will be auctioned on the 25th April 2017.     A consortium headed by Ecorodovias is taking over the concession for the BR-101 highway in Brazil. The road links the states of Espirito Santo and Bahia. The consortium led by Ecorodovias won the concession following competitive offer for the contract, despite tough competition from six other firms for the deal.
