Brazil highway project recommencing

Construction work is now restarting on the BR-163 highway in Brazil, following a four month cessation of activities. The work on the stretch of the route in Mato Grosso do Sul is being carried out by CCR and MSVia. However the pace of progress on the project has been lowered and is at a slower rate than originally specified. Construction work is now restarting on the BR-163 highway in Brazil, following a four month cessation of activities. The work on the stretch of the route in Mato Grosso do Sul is being carried out by CCR and MSVia. However the pace of progress on the project has been lowered and is at a slower rate than originally specified. Traffic volumes on the route are lower than when work commenced in 2013 and complexities with the environmental legislation have also caused headaches for the contractors. So far, MSVia alone has spent nearly US$595 million on the work.

    Work is progressing on the key Red Vial 5 highway project in Peru. The construction phase of the Huacho-Pativilca highway should finish in March 2017. The 183km long highway project has been carried out in two phases, with the first being finished in 2008 and costing some US$58 million. However costs have escalated for the second phase and it will come with a bill of some $119.6 million when the work is completed in 2017, around 12 months later than originally planned. The road operator is Norvial and this
