Tendering is opening for a new highway link in Bosnia. The tender will open in April 2021 for first section of the Banja Luka-Mrkonjic highway project. The work to build the new highway is being managed by the Bosnian road company Autoputevi Republike Srpske (ARS).

A preliminary agreement for the highway was signed in 2014 with Chinese contractor Sinohydro. Building the 62km highway is expected to cost €600 million. Financing will also be provided from China, through the Exim Bank.

Meanwhile, an agreement has been made regarding the new highway that will link Sarajevo with Belgrade. The project will be handled by a Turkish contractor.
