Bolivia road project delay as tenders behind schedule

Bolivia’s US$554 million Occidente road project is running behind schedule and is now expected to be complete in 2020. Construction of one section, from Caracollo-Confital, is underway with close to 60% of the work having been complete. However two of the three sections of the route have not yet been put to tender. The work for the Caracollo-Confital stretch was to have been completed by January 2018 but will now be finished by September 2018. This stretch was delayed by poor weather as well as material

Bolivia’s US$554 million Occidente road project is running behind schedule and is now expected to be complete in 2020. Construction of one section, from Caracollo-Confital, is underway with close to 60% of the work having been complete. However two of the three sections of the route have not yet been put to tender. The work for the Caracollo-Confital stretch was to have been completed by January 2018 but will now be finished by September 2018. This stretch was delayed by poor weather as well as material shortages. A decision for the stretch from Confital-Bombeo is still pending however as the contractor has yet to be selected. The necessary studies for the stretch from Bombeo-Parotani have yet to be completed.
