Bekaert and Maccaferri form tunnelling partnership

Specialist firms Bekaert and Maccaferri are establishing a partnership aimed at the tunneling market. RSSSpecialist firms 7812 Bekaert and 1589 Maccaferri are establishing a partnership aimed at the tunneling market. The two companies will set up a global sales and distribution joint venture that will provide construction reinforcement solutions for underground infrastructure projects. Bekaert, is a market and technology leader in steel wire transformation and coatings, while Maccaferri is a supplier of advanced solutions to the civil, geotechnical and environmental construction markets. The companies will set up the partnership as a 50/50 sales and distribution joint venture for underground construction reinforcement solutions.

The joint venture will promote the use of advanced reinforcement solutions for underground construction projects. It will combine the sales and distribution of Bekaert’s Dramix steel fibres for the reinforcement of concrete in underground construction projects such as shotcrete and precast applications, with Maccaferri’s complementary underground solutions, such as steel arches, concrete chemicals and glass fibre soil consolidation elements. The joint venture will serve underground construction markets on a worldwide basis, except in mainland China and Hong Kong, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay, where Bekaert and Maccaferri will continue to operate independently.
