Upgrades are also being made to provide run-off-road treatments including guard fences, linemarking, powerpole relocation, shoulder sealing, tree removal and wire rope safety barriers along a 10km stretch at the Princes Highway East in Kalimna West. The state determined that two bridges and seven road stretches in the East and South Gippsland region will be upgraded along with road safety improvements in the Latrobe Valley.

Upgrades will also be carried out to the Cox's Bridge Project on the South Gippsland Highway between Sale and Longford. Under the project, a new section of the highway will be 1.5m higher that the current road height, while two bridges will also be constructed. Earlier, a construction company called Cut & Fill was awarded the contract for the project from the state of Victoria.
