2122 Trimble has launched what it claims is an affordable and easy-to-use site positioning System for superintendents, foremen and field engineers on heavy civil construction sites.

Instead of using paper plans, the Trimble SitePulse System empowers field managers with the same 3D constructible model and digital information that is used by construction surveyors, grade checkers and machine operators.

Trimble SitePulse field software is ideal for construction managers who do not have a surveying background. The software runs on either the Trimble Site Tablet or any third-party Android tablet, giving contractors the flexibility to choose the hardware platform that best fits their needs and budget.

The new Trimble SPS585 GNSS Smart Antenna is a versatile receiver can be moved quickly from a truck to a range pole using a built-in magnetic mount. The SPS585 can access multi-constellation GNSS satellites and provides typical positioning accuracy of 10cm using Trimble RTX–based services, which stream GNSS corrections via satellite to the receiver without the need for a traditional base station.

The Trimble SitePulse System leverages Trimble Connected Site technology, including VRS networks, Internet Base Station Service (IBSS) and wireless data sync to provide efficient system configuration and streamlined workflows.

Machine control technologies are revolutionising construction – Dan Gilkes writes Electronic control of engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems, primarily to reduce exhaust emissions and boost productivity, is also providing manufacturers with an opportunity to incorporate increasingly complex machine control into their equipment. This in turn has the potential to make the machinery more productive, further cutting fuel consumption as part of a virtuous operational circle.

The machine control market is evolving fast and is increasingly becoming part of a much wider construction site management concept, Mike Woof reports. Machine control technology has come a long way in the past 20 years and the development of 2D and 3D systems has been rapid in the construction sector.

The Trimble Quantm alignment planning system, on show at CONEXPO/CON-AGG 2014, allows road designers to cut planning time and deliver projects with little environmental and social impact at a reduced cost. The system analyses millions of alignment alternatives and returns a range of options to the planning team for consideration. When new data becomes available the Quantm system can quickly recalculate more alignment options.
  • Trimble advances in machine control
    July 11, 2018
Trimble is offering new advances in machine control technology – Mike Woof writes An important technology advance from Trimble is now coming from its expanding range of EarthWorks machine control systems. These systems can help deliver more efficient earthmoving operations, increasing productivity while maintaining accuracy. The first EarthWorks system was developed for use with excavators and this latest system is designed to be used with dozers, utilising much of the same hardware. Meanwhile, other Ea
