The International Transport Forum (ITF) has published a new report on how better regulated Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) can improve funding and delivery of transport infrastructure.
The ITF highlights how PPPs have become an important tool for governments to attract private finance for infrastructure investments. In the face of tight budgets, PPPs are seen as a means to maintain transport investment and limit public spending at the same time.
French access and telehandler manufacturer Haulotte returned to profit in 2012 and, though the first quarter of 2013 is down year-on-year, CEO Alexandre Saubot remains confident about continued growth this year. “We achieved a decent performance in 2012 with almost 16% growth,” said Saubot. “2013 will remain a challenge for us, we will have to continue to work hard for sales growth.”

It was reportedly a logistical challenge to collect a massive front shovel excavator from the open pit coal mine Calenturitas de Prodeco in north-eastern Colombia.
The twin engines of the 290-tonne O&K RH 120-E mining excavator had given up the ghost and could not be repaired on site, leaving the monster stranded atop a high mound of earth.
So the mining company contracted heavy haulage specialist Boom Logistics to collect the excavator and transport it to the repair shop 22km away.
