2122 Trimble continues to develop its operations with the acquisition of German firm Linear project for an undisclosed sum. This privately owned firm is a leading provider of scheduling software for linear infrastructure projects. Linear project’s TILOS time and location planning software is used worldwide and is ideal for highways construction as well as other linear civil engineering projects.

Linear construction projects present major challenges as work is not performed in a single location. But the TILOS software merges the location and the schedule into a combined time and distance graphical view. This view then changes dynamically as the construction operation evolves. By incorporating design details, construction challenges and the project schedule into one view, contractors, owners and civil engineers can plan and manage linear projects more effectively.

This package helps integrate planning and scheduling with operating and material cost information. And Trimble has been collaborating with Linear project since 2014 to deliver 3D constructible model interoperability between its Business Center – HCE office software and the TILOS package of solutions. The TILOS software expands Trimble's portfolio of heavy civil construction solutions for corridors by adding time and cost into existing corridor workflow solutions. This means that stakeholders on linear construction projects can integrate TILOS planning and scheduling for time, location and resources capabilities with operating and material cost information from Trimble.

“TILOS software is a significant addition to our corridor solutions portfolio. With the addition of TILOS, Trimble can better address the needs of project owners, engineers and civil contractors by enabling them to closely manage operations and execute their projects on schedule and within budget,” said Alan Sharp, business area director for Trimble Heavy Civil Construction software solutions.

Linear project is a leading provider of linear scheduling software catering to a global market via multi-channel distribution, with headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany. In 1998, two leading construction companies began the development of TILOS software to enable the effective planning and control of linear projects such as road, tunnels and track building projects by extending Gantt chart based project planning to time-distance diagram planning. Today, TILOS software is widely used on large, linear infrastructure projects globally.
