IL&FS to widen Patna-Gaya-Dobhi road in India’s Bihar state

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded a highway widening contract worth US$202 million (INR 12.32 billion) to IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company. IL&FS will widen to four lanes 127km of the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi section of NH-83 in the north eastern Indian state of Bihar. The project is due for completion in three years and it will be undertaken under the Official Development Assistance Loans programme of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The 292 National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded a highway widening contract worth US$202 million (INR 12.32 billion) to 3148 IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company.

IL&FS will widen to four lanes 127km of the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi section of NH-83 in the north eastern Indian state of Bihar.

The project is due for completion in three years and it will be undertaken under the Official Development Assistance Loans programme of the 2416 Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

IL&FS Engineering, based in Hyderabad, is an infrastructure construction and project management company operating in the buildings, roads, railways, irrigation, power, ports and oil & gas sectors.

IL&FS announced in April that its subsidiary Maytas Infra Saudi Arabia (MISA) had received a letter of acceptance for $44.5 million of road drainage works at King Abdul-Aziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The contract involves construction of road drainage works including excavation, steel reinforcement, concrete works, erection and backfilling.

The highway project will be carried out by the contractor GHV (India) and the package of works was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The work involves building a stretch of the NH-925A route that runs from Gagaria to Baori Kalan and on to Serwa-Bakhasar. This 197km section of NH-925A will form part of the highway from Sata to Gandhav, with the work costing close to US$175 million.
