They may not be pushing the actual dirt around a construction site, but wireless comms for machine control need to be just as rugged and robust in their own right.

Attendees to HxGN Live in Las Vegas next month will also hear real-life examples of how to get the best out of 265 Leica’s 3D machine control products iCON Site and iCON Grade for dozers and graders in a presentation by Jana Wegner, chief executive of Texas-based J.A.L. Contracting. J.A.L. is one of the state’s fastest growing and most sought after general oil field contractor, from drilling pad construction to customised frack pit design and construction.

But how are state authorities handling automatic machine guidance and what’s in it for them? These questions and more will be answered by Curtis Clabaugh, state photogrammetry and surveys engineer in Wyoming’s department of transportation.

Attendees will also hear Tom Foley, founder of Intuicom, based in the Colorado state city of Boulder, explain what can be achieved with a state-of-the-art multi-modal on-site communications system. He will clarify key methodologies and explain which works best in order to lead everyone to swifter work completion - a sure goal for all. During the presentation Tom will refer to real life and real-time examples.

7121 Hexagon’s HxGN Live international users’ conference, from June 1-4, will be an event not to miss if 3D machine control is an essential part of your business operation or just on your horizon. Attendees will experience break-out sessions, keynote speakers and presentations of real-life examples of how to get the most out of 3D machine control as part of wider geospatial technologies.

Keynote speakers will include Ola Rollén, Hexagon president and chief executive, who will address the role information technologies play in fuelling curiosity and materialising imagination into action. Rollén will highlight aspects of Hexagon’s portfolio, empowering business and industry to discover, answer, refine and, ultimately, innovate.

Following Rollén will be Doug Menuez, a photographic journalist who captured the stories, struggles, failures and sacrifices of the pathfinders of Silicon Valley and their quests to invent the impossible. He will share first-hand accounts of what it takes to be fearless – a fearless genius.
