Finalists announced for bauma Innovation Award 2019

The competition is a joint project led by the German Engineering Federation, the Main Association of the German Construction Industry, the Central Association of the German Construction Industry, the German Association of Building Materials - Rock and Earth and bauma. The five winners of this year’s 688 bauma Innovation Awards will be honoured in Munich on April 7, the evening before bauma opens on April 8.

In all, 138 entries that were received from around the world and from which  a shortlist of 15 candidates was drawn up and were presented to the general public at the bauma Media Dialogue held on January 28-29 in Munich. Also, around 220 trade journalists had an opportunity to evaluate them.

The event to honour the five winners will take place in the Court Church of All Saints in the Munich Residence.

The bauma Innovation Awards are being presented for the 12th time in the categories Machine, Components/Digital Systems, Construction Work/Construction Method/Construction Process, Science/Research and Design. Nominees for the Innovation Awards are:
 
Category 1: Machinery
• E-Power Pipe, 2592 Herrenknecht
• 370 EC-B fiber, 718 Liebherr-Werk Biberach
• New large milling machine with MILL ASSIST, 2395 Wirtgen GmbH
 
Category 2: Components/Digital Systems
172 Bomag Ion Dust Shield, Bomag
• Positioning system DokaXact, 203 Doka
• Layer thickness measuring system PAVE-TM from 1228 Moba Mobile Automation
 
Category 3: Construction Work/Construction Method/Construction Process • b-project, 8350 Bauer Spezialtiefbau
• Mobile manufacturing, 8554 Max Bögl Stiftung
• Innovative building techniques for tomorrow’s construction industry, Ed. Züblin, Directorate Stuttgart
 
Category 4: Science/Research
• Conti-E impulse comminution, Technical Mining Academy of Freiberg, Institute for Mineral Processing Machines
• Driver guidance 4.0, Technical University of Munich, Chair of Material Flow and Logistics
• Defined removal of highly reinforced concrete, Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT)
 
Category 5: Design
• INTUSI intuitive user interface, Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger
• Mecalac TV1200, 2441 Mecalac Construction Equipment
• Design HDD system drill 2019, 2738 Tracto-Technik
 
The award jury’s criteria will include how practical is a solution, its economic potential, its use of resources both human and environmental and to what extent digitalisation played a key role in its development.
