Ease of transport and quicker assembly and commissioning are capabilities seen on new asphalt plants introduced during 2019. The ability to use RAP is another important feature being seen in all of the sophisticated new plants coming to market.
An existing asphalt mixing plant in Braunfels, Germany has benefited from a retrofit solution to boost its performance. Asphalt plant manufacturer Benninghoven was able to supply a new mixing tower and drying section to upgrade the performance of the facility.
Russian operator company NCC (Nevskaya Concession Company) has placed an order with German manufacturer Herrenknecht for the world's largest tunnel boring machine (TBM). The Mixshield TBM, for construction of the Orlovski Tunnel, "will surpass all previous TBMs" with a diameter of 19.25m and it is designed to construct a mega-tunnel to link both halves of the centre of Russia's second city St Petersburg under the River Neva and speed up traffic.
