  • Iveco Astra HD9 E6 is truck for most extreme conditions

    The HD9 Euro VI, Iveco's latest model in its Astra range of large trucks for extreme conditions, features an Astronic 16 speed gearbox and front and rear Kessler reinforced axles. The 560hp truck will carry up to 60tonnes and has a redesigned cab for added comfort. Iveco also offers the Trakker 26tonne quarry and construction vehicle that also features a Euro VI engine with a choice of manual or Eurotronic automated transmissions with a steering column-mounted shift lever.     Fritzmeier showed the Genius Cab at bauma 2016. It is a prototype 'cab of the near future' developed by a consortium of designers, manufacturers, academics and others and launched at bauma. Fritzmeier was one of the project leaders and built the 10 demonstration cabs on show at consortium member stands. The project, which won the bauma innovation award 2016 in the design category, aims to demonstrate a construction machinery cab optimised in all dimensions.   • New show for South Africa

    A new construction and mining equipment exhibition is being planned for South Africa, which will be held in September 2013. The event is being set up by Messe München and will be called bauma Africa and is said to attracting interest in the sector. The South African Construction and Mining Equipment Suppliers' Association (CONMESA) has said that it welcomes the first bauma Africa, the International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles.
  • Amomatic develops cloud-base asphalt system

    Finnish Asphalt Plant manufacturer Amomatic has developed a cloud-based system for recording where and when asphalt loads are delivered. Two contractors – one in Finland and one in Estonia – are already using AmoTrack. “You can see where each batch was placed, what the temperature was,” said Michael Gardias, sales and business development, Africa. The information is entered via a touchscreen system which Amomatic has designed so that drivers find it easy to use.
