Soilmec has updated its popular SR-30 piling rig with the unveiling at this year’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG of the SR-30 EVO. Capable of being transported complete with Kelly bar, the rig is lighter and more powerful than previous models. Power comes from a 168kW (225hp) Cummins QSB6.7 diesel engine, available in Tier 3 and Tier 4 Final versions to suit various markets.
A US TV channel is attempting to make car chases and action scenes containing exploding vehicles carbon neutral. Although carbon dioxide is emitted during the pursuit sequences or when vehicles are crashed and blown up, an offsetting process is being introduced. Concern for the environment has been placed as a high priority by the TV company. It is not clear whether the firm has also found a way to offset carbon or heat emissions from the large amounts of electricity consumed by lighting rigs.
Five finalists for the Association of Equipment Manufacturer’s (AEM’s) Infrastructure Vision 2050 Challenge fought for the winning place in a live final, held at CONEXPO-CON/AGG’s Tech Experience zone. The finalists had to pitch their ideas to three judges in one of the white Tech Experience domes.
