Eurovia UK, part of the Eurovia SAS and ultimately VINCI SAS, has invested £7 million in a new polymer modified bitumen and emulsion plant in Thurrock, by the River Thames in South-east England. Having drawn on technology and experience from other plants around Europe and in the US, Eurovia claims that the plant is the group’s most advanced yet.
“It is very automated, there will be a very small team required to operate the plant,” said Paul Kimber, divisional manager – PolyBitumens, Eurovia UK. PolyBitumen
A joint venture comprising BAM Nuttall and Morgan Sindall will carry out the 4km widening of the UK’s heavily congested A14 route. The €28.5 million (£24 million) project is being carried out for the Highways Agency to reduce journey times more reliable, improve safety and support proposed local development. Mott MacDonald will carry out the design work for the project. Junctions 7-9 of the A14 are highly congested at present due to a combination of heavy commuter traffic and the high percentage of HGVs car
Develon is now offering the DX140RDM-7 demolition excavator. As with the firm’s three larger models from 31-61 tonne, the new DX140RDM-7 22.5tonne demolition excavator offers different configurations for the customer with a range of solutions to suit a range of projects. There is also a multi-purpose version that can be used for other applications on site as well as demolition.
A flyover has collapsed in the Indian city of Kolkata. Reports from the local press suggest 14 fatalities and upwards of 150 people being trapped in the wreckage. The Times of India reports that the flyover was under construction at the time of its collapse and the reason for the structural failure has yet to be determined. The flyover is located in a densely populated area in the north of the city and the death toll looks likely to climb.
