In this exclusive episode of the Infrastructure Podcast, host Anthony Oliver sits down with Ivan Di Federico, President and CEO of Topcon Positioning Systems, to discuss the massive digital transformation underway in construction and agriculture.
Topcon Positioning Group is applying its technology to haul trucks, the company announced on Wednesday.
“Our objective has always been to automate a construction site as much as possible,” said Kris Maas, manager of machine control product marketing for Topcon. “We know we can’t, or at least shouldn’t, remotely operate any vehicle. But, we can and should do the next best thing—manage and track the whereabouts and payload of site material. That’s what HT-30 does.”
Topcon Positioning Group and Bentley Systems have set up direct communication between Bentley’s design applications and Topcon mobile work force products with the upcoming MAGNET 4.0 release.
With the direct communication from MAGNET Enterprise to Bentley’s ProjectWise, users of Topcon’s family of MAGNET and 3D-MC software solutions can now, while working in the field, access or receive i-models created by Bentley’s OpenRoads design modeling technology.

The presidents of the CECE and CEMA have handed the European Parliament a 10-point manifesto for securing strong industrial production across Europe.
Doing this, the European construction equipment and agricultural machinery industries underlined that they are committed to playing an active role in reaching the target of the European Commission to raise the share of industry in Europe from 16% GDP to at least 20% by 2020. Both industries maintain important production facilities and R&D sites in Europe.
