All-round visibility for operators on jobsites is the key to Bomag’s new range of single-drum rollers – just some of the parent group’s 25 product launches at bauma 2016.
Also new from BOMAG are compact rubber tyred rollers for the 4.5-11tonne market. The new BW 11 RH-5 models are articulated and feature hydrostatic drives and suit use in compacting chippings on surface dressing. The central positioning of the articulated joint is said to allow the four rear wheels to roll in the gaps between the five front wheels even when driving round bends.
Soil compaction BOMAG is pushing technological boundaries in the soil compaction sector with the market introduction of its giant 32tonne machines, which was shown in prototype/concept form at bauma in 2007. According to the firm the concept model attracted considerable interest and the company opted to develop the unit for series production. The new BW332 single drum roller is now the heaviest such machine on the market.

With new emissions legislation being introduced, manufacturers are rolling out a range of new asphalt compaction models designed to meet the latest requirements. These include both large rollers for high-production highway operations and compact machines designed for the rental market and suited to urban applications, with the latter segment becoming particularly competitive at present.
