Roundtable segment 3: timescale for the implementation of the new guidelines

July 4, 2025

This video looks at the timescale and rollout of the new digital guidelines from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). John Somers (AEM) and Mike Gomes (Topcon Positioning Systems) explain that these guidelines—covering autonomy, cybersecurity, and data layers—are “living documents” meant to evolve over time.

There’s no fixed deadline for adoption; instead, the goal is to start the conversation across the industry. By using common terms and standards, companies can better align, collaborate, and communicate. The speakers emphasize the importance of field users, project owners, and policymakers embracing the guidelines to drive adoption throughout the value chain.

The guidelines are already being referenced at major industry events and are set to gain visibility at upcoming expos like Agritechnica and CONEXPO.
