New engine architecture from Perkins will help the firm deliver emissions solutions to meet future regulations. In Europe the Stage V requirements are being finalised but Perkins says that it will be ready with its new technology.
Searching questions are being asked within the construction industry of the need for the Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB emissions legislation now coming into force. A senior figure within the European construction equipment sector with an executive role at a major manufacturer said, "Who are we doing this for?" He said that there is a need to reduce engine emissions so as to minimise pollution.
Engine manufacturer Deutz showed its Tier 4 exhaust emissions standard TCD 3.6 L4 engine to the Chinese market for the first time. Described by Deutz as ultra-compact, this water-cooled four-cylinder engine covers the 55.4-97kW power output range and is claimed to generate a power output comparable with that of a 4.5litre, turbocharged Tier 3 engine.
