From the UK’s Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) comes data revealing a future funding crisis many governments will face. The IFS study, commissioned by the RAC Foundation, shows that income from motoring taxation will fall as traffic volumes increase. The problem is that increasing fuel efficiency of new generation vehicles, plus the introduction of electric cars, will deliver smaller and smaller returns on fuel taxation. Although fuel is taxed heavily in the UK, and right across Europe, projections show t
Lighter and less costly batteries providing higher power densities could be a major benefit to the take-up of electric vehicles (EVs). At present, the cost and performance of electric car batteries present a barrier to the EV market. But new research in battery technology is suggesting promising alternative solutions. While such batteries will not be available commercially for some years, tests suggest these technologies could meet demands in terms of cost reduction and power density. Batteries using lithiu
SBM has introduced a new generation of vertical impact crusher rotors.
The company says that the vertical impact crusher type V8 as well as the bigger model V10 can easily be upgraded by the new rotor.
“Due to mounting protective cast armour plates at the upper and lower sides of the rotor, the service life of the rotor body could be prolonged by three times minimum in comparison to the old version. Repair costs are also considerably lower as maintenance has become easier and quicker,” says SBM.
