A United Arab Emirates quarry is putting its Volvo fleet to the test in harsh conditions

Volvo CE has developed an all-electric mini excavator, which it is now demonstrating in prototype form. The machine is powered by the latest generation Li-Ion battery technology and is said to be highly efficient. Volvo CE points out that the machine is a prototype intended to test the concept and that its configuration will be likely to change during development. Volvo CE has appointed a new president to handle its Americas Sales Region. Stephen Roy will take over in the role from September 1st 2016. Roy previously held senior management positions in Volvo Financial Services and the Volvo Group’s North American commercial truck operations. He will be responsible for meeting the diverse needs of customers in North America and Latin America, strengthening Volvo CE’s market position in the region and boosting profitability.
Volvo CE has reported record first quarter year sales. Sales between January 1 and March 31, 2012 were up 17% on the same three months of 2011.
