A $16 million runway project at Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport needed Topcon Positioning’s RD-M1 road scanner to ensure precise milling and quality resurfacing.
Topcon Positioning Group’s new road scanning solution SmoothRide can gather highway asset data at highway speeds with no need for lane closures, crash trucks or escorts. SmoothRide is a vehicle-mounted resurfacing solution for paving and milling projects. It uses a combination of core Topcon technologies designed to deliver the smoothest surface possible, while efficiently managing the quantity of material for each project.
Topcon Positioning is establishing a collaboration with DAQRI to develop wearable safety technology for use on construction sites. The two firms will work together to develop technology that will boost safety for site personnel through the use of augmented reality systems. DAQRI is a leader in enterprise augmented reality and developed the Smart Helmet, an industrial-grade unit that seamlessly connects personnel to work environments by providing information about the surroundings.
Topcon is introducing Enterprise3D, a subscription web-based construction and engineering management tool which aids complete job site planning and scheduling. Reports from and to the system can be sent via Topcon’s sitelink3D.net web portal from anywhere in the world.
