Driving on slicks at speed

Police in Poland managed to stop a 29 year old male driver after a 30km high speed pursuit. The BMW driver hit speeds as high as 260km/h (162.5mph) in his bid to elude his pursuers. When the traffic officers inspected the vehicle they realised the car’s rear tyres were so worn they had no tread remaining, and immediately impounded this dangerous vehicle along with arresting the offender. The man was from Krosno Odrzanskie in the west of Poland and close to the border with Germany.

    In Vietnam a traffic policeman proved his dedication to duty when a driver in Hanoi refused to stop. The policeman flagged down a coach for a document check, but the driver refused to show his papers and instead, headed off at speed.     In the US a kindhearted motorcyclist put her life at risk when she saw a kitten fall out of a vehicle while she waited at the traffic lights at a busy intersection. The woman rider ran forward from her motorcycle, gesturing at vehicles to stop so as to prevent the ginger kitten from being run over. The woman handed the kitten to a passerby before returning to her motorcycle and moving it to the side of the intersection. She then collected the animal and has since taken it home, renaming it Skidmarks.

    An elderly British driver was charged with dangerous driving by police after he mistakenly drove his car onto the platform of a railway station. The man explained that he must have taken a wrong turn. Witnesses pointed out that he drove his car 200m up a footpath that was clearly marked.
