Highway construction work is transforming Algeria, providing the country with a new network of highway quality road connections. Case has developed a concept wheeled loader to showcase new and developing technologies. The “Impact” is fully electric and features Case’s semi-autonomous “click & dig” system, but the most notable thing about the machine it its silhouette - it has no cab. It has been designed for remote operation.
“We can imagine in the future that we can drive the machine fully automatically from a kind of site control lounge,” explained Fabrizio Cepollina, head of construction for EMEA Case. “It could be interesting for dangerous areas such as demolition.”
A new Caterpillar grade control system can be installed at the factory to certain Tier 4 Interim/ Stage IIIB emission compliant dozers, graders, scrapers and excavators. The technology improves operator efficiency and equipment performance while reducing the overall cost of a machine guidance system on site.
Original equipment manufacturers have launched a range of new excavators and wheeled loaders including electric models, and features such as autonomous driving, remote control advanced driver assistance and special applications. Liam McLoughlin reports.
