A trio of leading global construction equipment manufacturers have released innovative hybrid excavators. Guy Woodford reports on the new models Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) has launched the first of a new generation of excavators, the ZH210LC-5 hybrid. The latest innovative Zaxis-5 model has been designed to deliver reliable performance with fewer emissions and less fuel than the ZX210-3 model.
LiuGong is investing hard in Europe, determined to be seen as a global player whose products are “made in Europe, tested in Europe and supported in Europe.” Along with new European headquarters based in Warsaw, LiuGong is also opening up a new European production line and a new continent-wide parts distribution centre at its Dressta manufacturing centre in Stalowa Wola. Atlas Copco launched its new PowerROC T50 drill rig at bauma China 2014, in Shanghai. It was designed and is now built at Atlas Copco's Nanjing China facility but aimed very much at global market needs. York Yang, product manager in Nanjing joked, “We should design a product to drill holes in the customer's ground not the customer's pocket.” And with cost effectiveness in mind the T50 was developed.
