Forty years ago the father of Juan Cardona, the current owner of the quarry Cantera Can Orvay on the island of Ibiza, Spain, started extracting limestone. Today, with 20 employees and a daily output of 3,000tonnes, the company, Áridos y Prefabricados, has grown to become the biggest family owned quarry in the island. Liebherr is adding to its product range with the acquisition of the German concrete pump manufacturer Waitzinger. This deal broadens the existing Liebherr-Mischtechnik product range and the company says it has plans underway for further expansion of this business segment. Waitzinger is based in Neu-Ulm, close to the Bad Schussenried facility where Liebherr-Mischtechnik is based. The deal was signed between the managing directors of Liebherr-Mischtechnik and Waitzinger Baumaschinen.
Italian manufacturer Socage has modified its 75TJJ aerial platform so that the basket has a greater range of movement. Whereas previously all four stabilising legs were set perpendicular to the body of the vehicle, the front stabilisers now pivot so that they can be placed at an angle, if required.
